Virginia Bailey

April 25, 1933 — June 9, 2022

O n June 9, 2022, Virginia Bailey peacefully passed away with her family by her side while residing at the North Platte Care Center. She was 89 years old.

Virginia was born to Thomas and Stella Koenig on April 25, 1933. She grew up in Maxwell and graduated from Maxwell High School with the Class of 1951.

On November 21, 1951, Virginia was united in marriage to Donald Bailey in North Platte where they made their first of many homes. The couple was blessed with four children and 60 years together when Don passed away in 2011.

Virginia enjoyed being at home with her family which gave her the time to cook (especially her chicken and noodles) and bake. She loved sweets and enjoyed going to coffee clubs, traveling with her family, listening to Blue Grass music and attending Blue Grass Festivals when she could. Virginia also looked forward to spending time with her sisters and enjoyed being with her church.

Virginia was a wonderful, loving, Christian woman.

She leaves behind her children, Linda (Bobby) Brueggeman of Ogallala, Mary Lou (Kim) Nikkel of Weatherford, OK, Mark (Kandi) Bailey of North Platte, and Brad (Lorinda) Bailey of Hastings; her sister, Donna Kittle of North Platte; sisters-in-law, Lucille Koenig of Gothenburg, Jeanne Max of Brady, Janice Bailey of Phoenix, AZ, and Carolyn Bailey of Manhattan, KS; as well as 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and many other family.

Along with her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Stella Koenig; sister, Patty Mentzer; brother, Bob Koenig; brothers-in-law, Delbert Mentzer, Dean Kittle, Earl Max, and Marvin, Russell and Orrin Bailey; sister-in-law, Leona Bailey; and her grandson, Garrett Bailey.

Cremation was chosen.  Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Church of Christ (Walker Road).  Family will have a private inurnment in the Plainview Cemetery at Maxwell. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
