Thomas Starling

T homas S tarling of North Platte, passed away at Great Plains Health on April 21, 2022. He was 68 years old.

Tom was born to Everett and Dorothy Starling at Wichita, KS, on June 30, 1953. He grew up and went to school in Kansas City, KS, then enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his discharge, Tom returned to Kansas where he worked for Bowing in Wichita before hiring on with the Union Pacific Railroad in Kansas City. The railroad transferred him to North Platte in 1988 and Tom worked until retiring in 2016.

On October 17, 1997, Tom married Coniss Schick Young in Craig, NE, and they made their home in North Platte. Tom was a member of the Eagles Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Dorothy, and brothers, Everett and Martin Starling.

Survivors include his wife, Coniss; children, Thomas (Corinne) Starling and Matthew (Maggie) Starling of Omaha and Rachel Starling of De Soto, KS; stepchildren, Dustin Young (Jamie Thomas) of Bondurant, IA, Heather (Mark) Rhoden of Lincoln and Lindsey Young of North Platte; his sister, Rita Barker of Denver, CO; brothers John Starling of Kansas City, KS, and Daniel Starling of Overland Park, KS; and 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and other family.

In keeping with Tom's wishes, cremation was chosen and service will be held in Kansas at a later date. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are to the donor's choice. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
