Sharon Kay (Hougan) Mutchie of North Platte, NE passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025 at The Maples, following complications from a fall she suffered in early July. Her family held her hands by her bedside as she peacefully slipped into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sharon was born in Wray, Colorado, the second child and only daughter of Bonnie Marie (Post) and Lester Clifford “Cliff” Hougan. She grew up in Wray, where she attended the Assembly of God church. As the sister to three rambunctious younger brothers, Sharon often took on the role of caretaker from an early age. Sharon graduated from Wray High School with the class of 1967and married the love of her life, Edward “Ed” Frank Mutchie on April 21, 1969. Together they had two children; Frank Edward Mutchie and Linda Kay Mutchie. The young family lived in Holyoke, CO, Sheridan, WY, and Benkelman, NE as they followed Ed’s work.

Following Ed’s unexpected death in March of 1986, Sharon worked various jobs to provide for herself and her two young children. Sharon’s faith in Jesus gave her strength and courage which sustained her through life’s trials and tribulations. Her favorite prayer was the Lord’s Prayer.

After her own children were nearly raised, Sharon married Pat Tyson in Benkelman, NE and she raised Pat’s grandchildren to young adulthood. Sharon and Pat divorced in May of 2007.

Following her retirement, Sharon worked at Shopko and later Dollar General as a clerk/cashier In Wray and after her retirement She moved to North Platte, Ne. Sharon loved to travel, dancing to the old country music of Ray Mullen and Gary Phipps, and making plastic canvas items. Her pets; Snowball, Shylo, Teddy and Oreo gave her much comfort and happiness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her parents; brother, Terry Hougan; son-in-law, Presley Wayne “Wayne” Ramsey; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She leaves behind her children, Frank E. Mutchie of Wray, CO and Linda K. Mutchie Ramsey of Ocala, FL; brothers, Dick L. (Cynthia) Hougan of Yuma, Arizona, Russel G. (Cathy) Hougan of North Platte, NE and Larry Hougan of Wray, CO; several cousins, nephews, nieces, great nephews/nieces, and friends will miss her smile and loving heart.

In accordance with her wishes, Sharon has been cremated, and no formals services will be held. Her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband, Ed in Holyoke, Colorado.
