The day brought a change of weather from the warmth and sunshine of days past. It was a little cold and wet from the preceding day of rain. With Halloween on the horizon, children were making plans for costumes and for the upcoming anticipation of treasurable piles of candy. Scott E Hunt was tucked into his bed at the local hospital while surrounded by more family members than who should reasonably fit into a room. There were people in chairs, people leaning against walls, people on the floor and people in waiting areas. Although it may seem that the accommodations were too small, the family knew better – the more people packing a room full of love, the better.

There were those who never left the hospital, there was also a rotation of familiar faces and there were people who came to show respect and love with a mindful visit. The love present in Scott’s hospital room sometimes grew loud with thunderous laughter and vibrant family stories, and yet at times there was tranquil and unflustered silence.

So much of the gathering reflected Scott and his life. Scott loved nature, the mountains, hunting, fishing and watching the beautiful paintings that is God’s sky. The change in weather, although disruptive to the humans bustling around in it, is essential to the nature that flourishes during seasonable change. Scott found beauty in a cold dreary day as well as in days of beautiful sunshine. No matter the weather around him, Scott remained steady. His eyes sparkled with love, his face held a smile and he presented himself strongly – the rock of a large family.

Scott loved holidays, his children and the promise of making new family memories. The upcoming holiday would have brought joy to Scott’s face watching his younger children dress in silly, creative and perhaps even scary costumes. He would have laughed with delight in seeing his children present their sweet plunders of candy for his eyes to inspect and appreciate.

Scott fought a long health battle, and it never occurred to him that he wouldn’t win. He wanted to be present to watch his children grow their own families, to watch them achieve milestones and to build more family memories. He wanted to remain the strong rock for his children when they came to him in times of need. But, towards the end he found peace in knowing that his time was being called. The goodbyes had been said, the words of fatherly wisdom has been imparted and the assurances had been made that he would always be with them in spirit after his body was put to rest.

After 53 years, Scott joined his parents, grandparents and uncle in Heaven. He’d been born to Jim & Marjorie Hunt (Clang) on January 8th, 1973. Scott was an exceptional man, and he leaves behind an abundant list of children who are all unique, gifted, loving, kind and adventurous. God truly made a great nation from him. Those he continues to watch over are his children: Janea, Colton, Cody, Connor, Caden, Noah, Jayce, Emmalynn, Amarah, Tru, Alyssa and Kaila; as well as his grandchildren: Dante, Declan and Luca. They will continue to spread Scott’s spirit of love through this world. Scott also leaves behind a brother, Michael. Their bond was one of childhood mischief and adult growth.

Scott didn’t leave this Earth until his family told him that it was okay to go. Ever the present rock in the family, he showed his loved ones just how hard he could fight to be there for his children. Scott will be greatly missed and the children he molded will grow up to do great works in his name.
