Sandy Vargas

S andra "Sandy" Vargas of North Platte passed away at Great Plains Health on January 22, 2024, at age 73.

Sandy, the daughter of Howard and Ruth Scott, was born June 27, 1950, at Gothenburg and she grew up in Brady.  Sandy graduated from Brady High School then moved to the Omaha area where she worked at University Hospital and attended college.

Sandy married Greg Vargas.  They had two daughters and later divorced.

She enjoyed playing Bingo with the older folks and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Sandy was very social and seemed to know everyone in town.  She also loved shopping, her cat, Silver, and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Nicole Vargas Jackson.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Michelle Vargas, and son-in-law, Deon Jackson of North Platte; grandchildren, Zack Vargas, Derek (Delaney) Vargas, Chantel Vargas and Cayden Jackson; great-granddaughter, Ellie Rae Vargas; her siblings, Pat (Karen) Scott of Denver and Sharon Scott of Stone Mountain, GA; and other family.

Celebration of Sandy's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Father Sagar officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Gaslin Cemetery at Brady.  Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
