R uth B ertram, formerly of Sutherland and North Platte, passed away at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE, on January 16, 2024, at age 77.
Ruth loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She held fond memories of growing up in California as the only child to Ben and Edith, being a member of the Ogallala and North Platte volunteer firefighter auxiliaries, attending Cowboy church in a cattle sale barn, taking art classes at MidPlains Community College, and making crafts to sell at local craft fairs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Bertram, and her parents.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Susan (Ralph) Quick and Karen (Steven) Monjarez; grandchildren, Kristi Lynne (Zachary) Baird, Florence (Tyson) Osborne, and David Quick; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, at Maranatha Bible Camp with Pastor John Sexson officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and with family greeting from 4-6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nebraska State Volunteer Firefighter Auxiliary Association or Nebraska Volunteer Firefighter Museum.
