April 26, 1923 — February 20, 2019

Ruby Perkins, age 95, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Linden Court.

Ruby was born April 26, 1923, in Keene, Nebraska, to Mabel and Albert Olson. Upon graduation from Wilcox High, she attended Kearney State Teachers' College and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. For five years she enjoyed teaching fourth grade students in Oshkosh and North Platte.

On September 15, 1948, Ruby married Glenn Perkins and the couple settled on a farm west of North Platte. The couple owned and operated a farming and cattle feeding business in the Platte Valley Community for many years. After Glenn's death in 1995, Ruby continued to assist her son in the business operation. Ruby lived on the farm for 70 years, until recently moving to Linden Court in January.

Ruby was accomplished in the areas of baking, crocheting, and knitting. She shared her abilities by leading a 4-H Club for many years and was a past member of the Platte Valley Women's Club. In her younger days she served in various capacities as a member of the First Christian Church. Her faith has been an inspiration to others.

Ruby was a devoted mother and grandmother to her three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Cristy Rau (Don) of Palm Coast, Florida, and sons, Gale (Jane) Perkins of Poulsbo, Washington, and Byron (Karen) Perkins of North Platte. Her grandchildren include Brad (Julie) Rau, Laurie (Bob) DeChello, Lisa (Jon) Clemens, Jesse (Kara) Perkins, Ellie (Pat) Sullivan, and Jed Perkins. She is also survived by one sister, Linnea Olsen, of Lincoln.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ardelle Olson, brother, Ced Olson, and parents.
