Roy Kaiwa Jr.

Roy Henry Kaiwa, Jr., 71, passed away on September 8, 2026, in Sutherland, Nebraska.

Roy was born on November 13, 1954, in Yokohama, Japan, to Roy H. Kaiwa Sr. and Chiyo Seki Kaiwa. Growing up as part of a military family, Roy lived in several states and overseas before his family settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he graduated from high school.

On October 26, 1979, Roy married the love of his life, Marlis Doreen Allen. Together, they built a loving family and shared many wonderful years.

Throughout his working years, Roy worked at Gerald Gentleman Power Plant and later had a career with the Union Pacific Railroad.

Roy had a great love for his family. He loved his children and grandchildren as if they were all his own and cherished the time he spent with them. He enjoyed singing and music and found happiness in gardening, fishing, and fly tying.

RoRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Sr. and Chiyo Seki Kaiwa; his wife, Marlis Doreen Kaiwa; and daughter-in-law, Shirla Brouwer.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Lanny “Russ” Brouwer of Omaha, Nebraska; Scott Brouwer of Sutherland, Nebraska; and Samuel Haworth and wife, Terri, of Sutherland, Nebraska; grandchildren, Heidi Brouwer, Jeremy Miller and wife Ashley, Justin Miller and wife Renee, Ross Brouwer and wife, Amanda, and her kids Daymon, Tatiyana, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Isabella Brouwer, Aiden Brouwer, Keaton Miller, Kason Miller, Maxx Miller, and Oliver Miller.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Elaine Miller and her husband Russell, and brother-in-law, Jim Allen, along with other family members and friends.

Roy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through his family and the many lives he touched throughout his life.
