Roberta Crites

R oberta C rites, resident of Dodge, NE, passed away at Linden Court in North Platte, NE, on April 25, 2022, at the age of 86.

Roberta was born to Stephen and Edith Laner at Los Angeles, CA, on March 23, 1936, and grew up in California and Arizona.

She married William H. Payne in Arizona and that is where her children, James, William Jr., Kathy and Sandra, were born. After divorcing, Roberta met and married Robert Crites in March of 1971. The family grew with Bob's children, Stephan, Robert Jr., Barbara and Julia, joining Roberta's children.

Roberta and Bob made their home in Layton, UT, following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. In 1986 they moved to Southern California and eventually to Dodge, NE, in 2004.

Over the years Roberta had several jobs including office work, quality control for Max Factor, was a taxi driver, and worked in the laundry at a nursing home. She was a small but mighty woman!

Roberta was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family, especially her fur babies (her cats).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Edith Laner; siblings, Faye Crites and John Laner; sons, James Payne, William Payne, Jr. and Robert Crites, Jr.; grandsons, Billy Payne, Robert Crites and Lee Ogg; and great-grandson, Donte Morris

Survivors include her husband, Bob, of Dodge, NE; daughters, Barbara Crites of Sutton, NE, Kathy (Wayne) Ellison of McCloud, OK, Sandra Morris of Layton, UT, and Julia (Mike) Schrader of Lewis, IA; son, Stephan Crites of Dodge, NE; daughters-in-law, Teresa Payne of Farr West, UT, and Sandy Payne of Layton, UT; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and other family.
