Robert “Bob” Irving Peal, 93, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on October 1, 2026.

Bob was born July 18, 1933, to Bassle Sylvester Peal and Wauneta (Eastburn) Peal in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and the Denver, Colorado, area and graduated from Englewood High School. Following high school, Bob went to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C.

He entered the United States Army on April 6, 1954, and was honorably discharged on June 30, 1958, as a First Lieutenant. While serving at Fort Riley, Kansas, he met Donna Coffman, who was also serving there. The couple was married on November 10, 1956, in Concordia, Kansas.

Bob and Donna lived in Kansas for nearly a year before moving to Iowa City, where Bob attended college using the GI Bill. After completing his education, they moved to Omaha, then Grand Island, and eventually made their home in North Platte.

Bob enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and playing cards. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Platte Valley Lodge #32 AF&AM, and the North Platte Shrine Club.

Bob is survived by his children, Tom Peal and his wife, Paula, of Omaha; Melinda Reckard of North Platte; Tim Peal and his wife, Cathy, of Omaha; and Tony Peal of North Platte; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Dean Peal; son, Theodore Irving “Ted” Peal; daughter-in-law, Lisa Dunning Peal; son-in-law, Patrick Reckard; parents; sisters, Betty Auchard and Patty Reffel; and their husbands, Denny Auchard and Fred Reffel.

Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in North Platte. Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.
