Robert Earl “Bob” Huff, 78, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 29th in Imperial, Nebraska.
Bob was born September 28,1947 in Marysville, Kansas, to Edward and Ivadell Huff. He was raised in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School in 1965. In October 1967, he was drafted into the United States Army and served proudly in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1969.
On January 3, 1971, Bob was united in marriage to Sally Gallenbeck in Rawlins, Wyoming. The couple later made their home in North Platte where they enjoyed 52 years of marriage.
Following his military service, Bob began a long career with the Union Pacific Railroad, working as a machinist. Outside of work, he enjoyed a full and active life. He loved fishing, bowling, going to the horse races, and gardening, but above all else, he cherished his family. Bob was also a proud member of the UP Athletic Club, the North Platte Coin Club, and the Yah-Ta-Hay Veterans Organization.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally; his parents, Edward and Ivadell; brother-in-law John Gallenbeck; and brother-in-law Manny Rodabaugh.
He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Huff of Riverside, CA; brother, Richard (Kathy) Huff of North Platte, NE; sister, Lori (Richard) Mayo of Jacksonville, AR; sisters-in-law Sherry Rodabaugh of Rawlins, WY, Donna Gallenbeck of Baggs, WY, and Sandy Curry of Grand Junction, CO; brothers-in-law Danny (Dora) Gallenbeck of Baggs, WY, and William (Kathy) Gallenbeck of Almont, CO; close family friend Sandi Rouse of Del Mar, CA; as well as many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A private family burial will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Services Trust. Odean Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
