Ramona Mcconnell

R amona M c C onnell, age 91, formerly of Hershey, died peacefully at the North Platte Care Center on January 20, 2022.

Ramona was born to William and Bessie Carveth on September 19, 1930, at Sutherland. She grew up in the O'Fallon area and graduated from O'Fallon High School.

On November 27, 1949, Ramona was united in marriage to Robert Eugene McConnell at Maria Lutheran Church in Hershey. The couple lived on the Howard McConnell farm where they raised their family and worked in farming and livestock all their married lives. Ramona and Bob were married for 56 years when he passed away.

Along with working on the ranch, Ramona became a travel agent, helping people with domestic and international travel, and was an International D.P. issuer. She enjoyed working with others and was active in the Hershey community. Ramona was PTA President, helped with the 4-H Beef Club, and was a member of Maria Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Nebraska and National Hereford Women's Associations and Nebraska Cattlewomen.

Along with her husband, Bob, Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bessie, and stepfather, Kenny McKean.

Survivors include her children, Burt McConnell (Phyllis Mackley), of Hershey, William (Rose Ann) McConnell, of Tucson, AZ, and Cynthia (Gary) Schnieders, of Jefferson City, MO; grandchildren, Billie (Natalie) Chapman, Sally (Stephen) Henderson, Jason (Jennifer) Schnieders, Sarah (John) Farrer, Nicole (Matt) Hoffman, J.D. McConnell, Amy (Frank) VanDevender and Michael Strauser; 19 great-grandchildren; her sister, Peggy (Jack) Moorhead, of Hershey; niece, Kassie (Matt) Pelster, of Wallace; nephews, Matt Moorhead (Yolonda Milton), of Lincoln and Mitch (Stephanie) Moorhead and Marc (Brooke) Moorhead, of Hershey; and other family.

Cremation was chosen and services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Cards may be sent to Peggy Moorhead at 2609 S Hershey Dickens Rd, Hershey, NE, 69143. Memorials are to the donor's choice. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
