Murray Odean

March 18, 1964 — August 3, 2022

I t is with great sadness that we say good-bye to Murray Odean. Murray, the son of George 'Bunk' and Lavughan Odean, was born in North Platte on March 18, 1964, and was found deceased at his home in Phoenix, AZ, on August 3, 2022. He was 58 years old.

Murray was raised in North Platte back in the days when neighborhood kids played in the streets. Growing up, he was in Boy Scouts and loved skateboarding, riding his bike, and hanging out with his friends. Murray was really good at skateboarding and motor cross and won lots of trophies! In his later years he traded the motor bike for a Harley, which was his pride and joy.

Murray attended Washington Elementary and graduated from North Platte High School. During high school he worked at Sixth Street Food Store and was in the NP Civil Air Patrol Squadron which helped with tornadoes in Grand Island.

Murray eventually moved to Arizona where he worked as a laborer then, with a little more schooling, became an electrician and worked for the public power district until recently. Murray was married to Mary Harmon for a while and enjoyed being around her family and going scuba diving.

He enjoyed being with friends and family and was always friendly to others. Murray will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bunk Odean.

Survivors include his mother, Lavughan, brother, Mark, and nephew, Mark Ollie Odean (Kiara Rector), all of North Platte; great-niece and nephew, Maci and Maverick Odean; as well as other family and his many friends.
