Molly Odean

March 26, 2004 — September 16, 2019

On Monday, September 16, 2019, we said good-bye to our little Molly. She had struggled with her health most of the summer and when the time came she was at home surrounded by her family under comfort care and died peacefully.

Molly was born to a family in March of 2004 and adopted by the Odeans a couple months later. She came to us on a stormy afternoon in May and left this world on a beautiful, warm sunny day in September.

Molly was raised in a loving family and was blessed into the "cat-lic" church. It’s hard to believe she was with us for over 15 years! During her lifetime she had to put up with her older brother, Charlie, who wanted to be an only child, then three additional kittens who have grown into cats.

Molly had a good life which included cashmere blankets to sleep on, a house full of toys (laser light being her favorite) and a private yard where she could enjoy being outside watching the birds, bugs and squirrels or sleeping on the red wicker chaise. She enjoyed walks in the alley to chew on the neighbor’s weeds, being outside at dark, and hanging out in the back garage for a change of pace.

She also enjoyed sleeping during the day and being up at night, walking around the house, doing what she wanted without the others disturbing her. Molly had many favorite places to rest or hang out, one being under our bed.

She was an independent little girl who was easy to get along with and did not like to be bothered by strangers or children. When she was held, Molly loved her stomach scratched and her whiskers brushed. She didn’t complain when she was hurt or sick and was most proud of her beautiful long hair.

Molly was greatly loved and leaves an emptiness behind in those who loved her.

She is survived by Dodie and Rick Odean; her siblings, Charlie, Grace, Oscar and Leo; and other family.
