Mickey Miller

M ickey M iller, age 71, of Tryon, Nebraska, died unexpectedly at home on December 6, 2021.

Mickey was born at Sutherland to Leo and Myrtle Miller on June 11, 1950. He grew up on the ranch north of Ringgold and graduated from McPherson County High School at Tryon.

Mickey enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1968 and served as a Navy Seal. Following his discharge in '72, Mickey returned to Nebraska and worked on a ranch near Ogallala then worked various jobs including for Hiatt Construction.

On May 16, 1997, Mickey wed Belinda Votaw. They lived north of North Platte before moving to Tryon in 2002. Mickey enjoyed dancing, hunting and fishing, and was a member of the D.A.V. He especially loved all of his family and was proud of each of them. He will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Myrtle, and parents-in-law, Bill and Opal Votaw; and his son, Charles Johnston.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Belinda, of Tryon; children, Leo Miller II and Raymond Miller, of North Platte, Todd (Amanda) Miller, of Gothenburg, Melissa Prokop and Jessica Johnston, of Tryon, Angela Johnston, of Harker Heights, TX, and Danny Miller; brothers, Gary Miller, of Sutherland and Harley Miller, of North Platte; sisters, Peggy (Neal) Smith and Vicki (Gene) Weber, of North Platte, Bonnie (Bill) Founds, of Arvada, CO, Mary McCormick, of Kearney, Gina Miller, of Axtell and Robbi (Ken) Garrison, of Philmore, IN; 15 grandkids, 14 great-grandkids and many other family members.

Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or at the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the D.A.V. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
