Marymae Seery

Marymae Seery, age 84 of North Platte, NE, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Linden Court.

Marymae was born to Grace (Powell) and Harry Johnson on March 4, 1938, north of North Platte. She grew up in the Sandhills and graduated from North Platte Senior High in 1956. On March 18, 1958, Marymae was united in marriage to Don Seery at the First Christian Church in North Platte where they made their home and raised a family.

Marymae was first employed as a secretary and bookkeeper at the engineering firm of Nosky and Hickey. Once her children were born, she worked part-time at Western Motors as a book keeper for Don. In 1982 Marymae went to work full time at the Lincoln County Courthouse until her retirement in 2010.

Marymae loved raising her children, and caring for her grandchildren. She was an active parent volunteer at the school, and taught Sunday school for many years. Marymae enjoyed traveling, shopping and spending time with extended family and friends. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Royal Neighbors.

She is survived by her children, Brenda McCormick (Kevin) of Ventura CA, Shureen Seery of Papillion and Brandon (Sky) Seery of North Platte; four grandchildren, John and Paige Seery and Aidan and Brendan McCormick; her best friend & cousin, Bonnie White of Lincoln; her nieces, nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and infant son, Von; her parents, Grace and Harry Johnson; and half-sister Ethel Hanson.

Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at First Christian Church with Jean Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday and with family present from 4-6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to First Christian Church.
