Mary Bass

Mary Marguerite Bass, 73, of Ogallala, NE, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE. Mary was born May 22, 1941, to David Emil and Ada Leone Strawser at Fort Wayne, IN where she grew up. On June 6, 1960, Mary married Jack Dan Bass in Sterling, CO and to this union three children, David, Christina and Jacqueline, were born. They lived in Sterling, Shreveport, LA, Mesa, AZ and Albuquerque, NM before returning to Sterling. In 2007 Mary moved to Ogallala to be closer to her son. When the kids were young, Mary was involved with their activities and she was always a great mom. She was also a devoted animal lover. She is survived by her children, David Bass, of Ogallala, Christina Lynn Garcia, of Albuquerque, NM and Jacqueline Sue Bass, of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren, Jody Lee and Amanda Teko Philyaw, Valerie Marie Silver, Anthony Cruz and Jonathan David Garcia; three great-grandchildren, Brenna, Casey and Cameron; and other family. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, David and Ada Strawser; and two sisters, Gwendolyn Rose Jensen and Joyce Fultz. Cremation was chosen. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
