M arilyn V izina, age 88, of North Platte, passed away at the North Platte Care Center on October 19, 2024.
Marilyn was born February 28, 1936, to Fred and Corrine Siegmann in Omaha then, when she was 6 years old, the family moved to North Platte. After graduating from N.P.H.S. in 1954 she enlisted into the U.S. Navy. She was honorably discharged in 1956 then did extensive traveling. Marilyn returned to North Platte in 1969 and worked at Eastern Nebraska Human Services Agency (E.N.H.S.A.) for a few years.
Marilyn had four children during her first marriage then later married Eugene Vizina on May 4, 1974, in North Platte. They were married for 21 years when he passed away in 1995.
Marilyn was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, volunteered at the Senior Center and was active with R.S.V.P. She enjoyed tooling leather and being in a walking club.
Along with her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Siegmann, Sr.; nephew, Ron Siegmann; her son, David Segan; and daughter-in-law, Debra Segan.
Survivors include her loving children, Brian Segan, Michael Segan (Dawn) and Barbara McCallister; step children, Stan Vizina and Diana Lassley (Ron); her sister-in-law, Darlene Siegmann; good friends, David and Mauretta Folchert; five grandchildren; and other family.
Services are Monday, October 28, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church beginning with a Rosary Service at 10 a.m. then Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation is prior to the service at the church. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
