M argaret (Jones) Andersen, 76, of North Platte, passed away December 8, 2024, at Linden Court.
Margaret was born March 18, 1948, to Harold and Doris Jones in North Platte. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1966 then moved to Omaha to chase her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from Clarkson College of Nursing in 1969 with her Nursing Diploma and earned her Registered Nurse license shortly after graduation.
Margaret was united in marriage to Roger Andersen of Curtis on June 8, 1974; together they had two children, Anna Lee and Benjamin. The family moved to the Andersen Farm north of Curtis in the summer of 1982.
Margaret, who went by Maggie at work, was a Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Women's Surgical Nurse at Great Plains Regional Medical Center for over 30 years. She earned many professional certifications throughout her career, holding more than 20 at the time of her retirement. Margaret was dedicated to mom and babe care, was an outspoken advocate, and went the extra mile to make sure they received the care they deserved.
In her spare time, Margaret was always working on a craft project (especially sewing or crocheting), canning, and going to garage sales to score a great deal on craft supplies. She always carried her crochet or knitting bag with her everywhere she went.
Margaret was active in her Christian faith, frequently attending worship services, serving on the prayer chain and other healing and supportive ministries at First Christian Church. She had a kind heart and was always on the lookout for opportunities to support her community and others through volunteering, crafting them a personalized blanket, providing food for school fundraising or church potlucks, and sewing AWANA bags for all the kids in the program.
During her retirement, she enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee or Birthday Club and volunteering at the Bargain Bin.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Doris. She is survived by her husband, Roger, daughter, Anna Lee, and son, Benjamin; her sister, Eleanor Powell; and brother, Doug Jones.
