Lonnie Buckley

Lonnie Buckley, 74, of North Platte, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019, at Great Plains Health.

Lonnie was born September 10, 1944, to Herschel and Wilma Buckley. He grew up in Cozad where he graduated from high school in 1962. Lonnie then worked for F&S Sausage for about 12 years then he was with Sperry New Holland for a few years before going to work for Knudsen Jewelry in Lexington. Lonnie eventually began working construction, mostly road construction, and later worked for power plants in Virginia and Texas.

He moved to Wellfleet in 1992 and owned the Cafe for a short time. When he retired in 2006, Lonnie moved to Denver then to North Platte. Over the years he had served six years in the Army National Guard, was married for a while and had two kids, and was a past member of the Lexington Jaycees. He was also a talented artist, painting with acrylics and oils.  Lonnie enjoyed his rebel life and always did things his way.

He is survived by his brother, Brian (Charlotte) Buckley, of Lincoln and sister, Robin (Darrell) Gibson, of Lakewood, Colorado; children, Chad Case, of Kearney and Nicole Case, of Colorado; granddaughter, Maya Case; and other family.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Wilma.

Cremation was chosen. Graveside gathering and inurnment will be Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington then lunch will follow at the Wilma Buckley Hall located on the southside of East Lawn Apartments at Lexington. The memorial book may be signed at the graveside or at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
