Lillian Johnson

L illian J ohnson passed away at the age of 101, on August 14, 2022, at Linden Court in North Platte.

Lillian, the daughter of Edward and Agnes Isackson, was born January 20, 1921, in Wild Horse Valley, north of Brady. She attended Spannath School then graduated from Brady High School in 1938. In 1934 Lillian won the Lincoln County Spelling Contest and earned a trip to the Chicago World's Fair.

On April 9, 1940, Lillian was united in marriage to Earl Johnson at Oberlin, KS. They made their home in North Platte where they raised their children, Sherry and Mark.

Lillian was an auxiliary member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and Eagles. She worked as a rural school teacher, dental assistant for Dr. Roger Van Cleave, and was a desk clerk at the Ramada Inn, from which she retired. Lillian then enjoyed being a volunteer with R.S.V.P. and was recognized for 20 years of volunteer work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Edward and Agnes Isackson; brother-in-law, Kenneth Davis; and grandsons, Troy and Todd Van Nortwick.

Lillian is survived by her children, Mark Johnson, of Ft. Collins, CO, and Sherry Van Nortwick, of Bennington; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Ian; her sister, Darlene Davis, of North Platte; niece, Kathlene (Thomas) Sullivan; nephews, Kent (Maggie) Davis and Keith (Syrena) Davis; as well as other family.

Lillian will be buried with her husband at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at a later date. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
