Lila Arensdorf

O n October 30, 2021, Lila Arensdorf passed away at the Sutherland Care Center at the age of 89.

Lila, the daughter of George and Ruby Humphrey, was born May 4, 1932, in Sutherland where she was raised and has lived all her life.

After graduating from high school in 1949, Lila married Clarence Arensdorf on September 4, 1949. The couple made their home on the Arensdorf homestead where they raised their family.

Lila was a member of the United Methodist Church at Sutherland and was active with the U.M.W. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, doing crafts, embroidering and using her talents to make baby blankets and tea towels. Lila was a great wife and mother who loved her family dearly, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and their daughters, Judith Arensdorf and Jacqueline Sachtjen; her parents, George and Ruby Humphrey; brothers, LeRoy and Jack Humphrey; and her sister, Elaine Stagemeyer.

Lila is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Arensdorf, of Sutherland and Julie (Pat) Hoaglund, of Brady; son-in-law, Wendell Sachtjen, of North Platte; her brother, George, Jr. (Aubra) Humphrey, of Sutherland; grandchildren, Tracy (Michelle) Sachtjen, Robin Mann (Steve Binegar), Nichole Redden (Roger Lathrop), Shawn Redden, Kelli (Matt) Wiiest and Tiffany Hoaglund (Scott Peterson); 16 great-grandchildren and a great great-grandson; as well as many other family.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Sutherland Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
