Larry Dean Young, 66, of North Platte, NE, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at his home. Larry was born April 25, 1948, to Jim Henry and Laveda May Young at Mountain Home, AR. He grew up in North Platte, Curtis and Hershey, NE and graduated from Hershey High School in 1966. Larry then attended Mid-Plains Community College for a year before joining the U.S. Army in 1968, serving in Vietnam. Following his discharge in 1971, Larry returned to North Platte and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad as an Electrician. He worked for several years before pursuing other interests in North Platte. Larry is survived by his brothers, Roger Young, of North Platte, Daniel (Susan) Young, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Jim Young, of San Diego, CA and Kevin Anthony, of Lincoln, NE; three sisters, Elaine (Gary) Mulvaney, of North Platte, Connie Walker, of Concord, NC and Jolynn Anthony, of North Bend, NE; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and other family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim; his mother, Laveda Young Anthony; and a brother, Robert 'Spike' Young. Cremation was chosen. A graveside memorial service with military honors will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
