K enneth G rasz of North Platte passed away at his home on February 6, 2023, at the age of 72, following health complications.
Ken was born to Albert and Evelyn Grasz on July 1, 1950, in North Platte where he grew up. 1968 was an important year for Ken; he graduated from North Platte High School, enlisted into the U.S. Army, and got married.
He was united in marriage to Lois Gibbs on October 22 and they spent the next 54 years together.
Ken served in the Army for 20 years and was stationed in various bases throughout Europe and the U.S. He worked in the Army Post Office and was the U.S. Army Postal Inspector in Europe. He served his final 6 months at the Pentagon then retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Ken's second career was in trucking. He went to school in Ft. Scott, KS, to receive his CDL then drove trucks in the Midwest region for 20 years. In his free time he enjoyed doing leather work and wood work, and anything else he could do with his hands. Ken was very talented and liked to keep busy.
He was preceded in death by his young son, Timothy; parents, Albert and Evelyn; stepfathers, Ivan Doyle and Wayne Kleinow; brother-in-law, Ellis and wife Sharon Gibbs; and brother-in-law, Bob Kohler.
Ken is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Tammy (Kristofer) Gainsforth of Herriman, UT, Jeffrey (Victoria) Grasz of North Platte and Audra (James) Sanders of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Alexander, David, Charlotte and Zachery; his sisters, Joyce Kohler of North Platte, Helen (Keith) Hackney of McCook and and Gaylynn Gaedke of North Platte; brothers, Dick (Barbara) Grasz of Upper Sandusky, OH, and Louis (Judy) Doyle of Gales Ferry, CT; and other family.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Michael Evans officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
