Kathy Gentry

K athy G entry, of Maxwell, passed away surrounded by her family at Great Plains Health on January 27, 2021, at the age of 63.

Kathy was born September 3, 1957, to Gifford and Helen Peterson in North Platte where she grew up and attended school.

Kathy married Orvel Alden and to this union her daughter, Carla, was born. The couple later divorced then on March 20, 1992, Kathy married Larry Gentry and they continued living in North Platte until moving to Maxwell.

Kathy worked at and managed several Kwik Stop locations. She later went to work for Detco and continued working until her health declined. In her free time Kathy enjoyed gardening, antiquing, going to the park to watch the animals, and shopping on QVC. She loved her many cats and her family and enjoyed spending time with them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gifford and Helen Peterson; brother, Dennis Peterson; brother-in-law, Donald and wife, Bonnie Lunkwitz; and sister-in-law, Gloria Smith.

Kathy is survived by her husband and best friend for 28 years, Larry, of Maxwell; daughter, Carla Morgan, and stepdaughter, Andrea (Allen) Avis, of North Platte; stepson, Tony Gentry (significant other, Pattie Oerter) of Colorado Springs, CO; brother-in-law, Ronnie Smith, of North Platte; sister-in-law, Rhonda Peterson, of Burwell; grandchildren, Caleb Morgan, Haylee Morgan, Crashell Foster (significant other, Aaron Knodel), MJay Avis, Tallon Avis and Shelby (Adam) Hay; great-grandsons, Hayden Foster, and another due in April; nieces and nephews, Tisha Peterson-Shaner (significant other, Travis Lindsay), Maegan (Bryon) Shirley, Patricia Honeywell, Michael Lunkwitz, Donnie (Chris) Lunkwitz, Steve Smith and John Smith; and other family.

Cremation was chosen. Service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or prior to services at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Larry for future designation.  For those unable to attend, services will be recorded and posted to odeanchapel.com.
