Kathryn Louise Egan, of North Platte, passed away at home with her family around her on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at the age of 75.
Kathryn was born June 23, 1944, to Glen Farrell and Beulah Briggs Moore Egan at Port Arthur, Texas. She grew up in Texas where she graduated from LaMarque High School and attended college and beauty school. After Kathryn got married she took a break from school. The couple continued living in Texas until moving to Michigan for 10 years.
While in Michigan, Kathryn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Oakland University and went on to volunteer at St. Paul’s Lutheran School where she enjoyed helping the students.
In 1986 they moved to Shawnee, Kansas. Kathryn worked as a secretary for an insurance company and was involved with Trinity Lutheran Church. Years later she moved to England and taught school. When she returned to the U.S. Kathryn lived in Oklahoma for a couple years then moved to North Platte in May 2006 to be with her family. She continued to volunteer, this time at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
Kathryn was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed traveling all around the United States and went to China, Thailand, Canada and Mexico. She was a kind, caring person who enjoyed helping others, but most importantly loved her family.
She leaves behind her daughter, Teresa (Larry) Young, of North Platte; son, Randall (Janae) Nicholson, of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Jeremy Stoway, Emma, Rachel and Molly Young, Lee and Reagan Nicholson; sister, Marjorie (Ridge) McNeir, of Amarillo, Texas; and other family.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Beulah Egan.
Cremation was chosen and services will be at a later date. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
