K athleen W entink, age 90, formerly of Lincoln, died in North Platte on December 1, 2020.
Kathleen was born to William and Rose Wells on October 25, 1930, in Clay County near Sutton. She attended school at District #9 through the 8th grade then went on to graduate from Sutton High School in 1947 and from the Lincoln School of Commerce in 1950. She later received her Bachelor's Degree from Doane College-Lincoln in 1990.
On April 5, 1950, Kathleen married Gayle Wentink in the Methodist Church at Saronville. The couple lived in Lincoln where Kathleen worked for the USDA Soil Conservation Service until retiring in 1992. She then volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital for several years and the Veteran's Hospital for 10 years.
Kathleen attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church and was a member of the Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rose Wells; daughter, Kathy Kujawa; brother, Burton Wells; and sister-in-law, Teresa Wells.
Survivors include her husband, Gayle, of North Platte; sons, Michael (Cathi) Wentink, of North Platte and Jerry Wentink, of Colorado; grandsons, Paul (Amanda) Wentink and Eric Wentink, all of Colorado, and Christopher and Nicholas Kujawa, of Phoenix, AZ; her twin brother, Kenneth Wells, of Charlottesville, VA; as well as two great-granddaughters, a great-grandson, her nephew, niece and many other family members.
Cremation was chosen. Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2020, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Chaplain Gary Smith officiating. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to North Platte Paws-itive Partners. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
