Joyce Olson, 90, of North Platte, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends.
Joyce was born November 26, 1927, to Austin J. and Thelma (Thornton) Riddle on the family farm near Crawford, NE, where she grew up. She graduated from Crawford High School in 1945 then worked on and off for the telephone company until retiring in 1985.
On February 6, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage to Leo W. Olson in Hot Springs, SD, and they were together until 1981 when Leo died. Joyce later married Maynard E. Johnson and he passed away in 1990.
Joyce was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Claudia) Langston, of Lusk, WY, Lance Olson, of Hutchison, KS, and Murray Olson, of New York City; daughter, Carol (Wayne) Shepherd, of North Platte; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Besides her husbands, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James; son, Gary Olson; twin infant grandsons; and granddaughter, Amanda Olson.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The casket will be closed. The guest book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or at the graveside.
