Joyce Kohn

J oyce K ohn peacefully passed away at Linden Court on May 4, 2025, with her family at her side.

Joyce was born September 12, 1951, to Delores and Norman Stearns in North Platte, NE, where she resided all her life.  She graduated with the Class of 1969 then married a few years later.

On January 31, 1971, Joyce wed Gary Kohn.  They had two sons, Chadd and Bryan, and enjoyed over 54 years of marriage.  She worked at McDonald Elementary School for over 30 years and was school librarian for many years.

Joyce strong willed, knew what she wanted (and got it!) and was extremely organized.  She was a BIG Husker football fan, but the most rewarding thing in life was being "Grandma" to Langdon, Dalaney and Gracen.

We hate to see her go, but it was her time and she took our love with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dave Stearns; and brother-in-law, Ron Bunde.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Chadd and Bryan; all three of her favorite grandchildren; her sisters, Karen Conn (Don), Debbie Patrick (Vaughn) and Donna Moore (Leonard); sisters-in-law, Diane Bunde, Karen Stearns; brother-in-law, Ron Kohn (Michelle); and many nieces, nephews and other family.

A gathering of family and friends will be 1-3 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at the Moose Lodge, and of course, wear your Husker red!
