John Walter Emery passed away April 22, 2026, in North Platte, Nebraska, surrounded by the love of family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and cherished memories.

John was born March 16, 1963 to Vern and Beulah Emery in California.

John grew up in Colorado and California, where he developed a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming, and spending time with family. He played an important role in the lives of his nieces and nephews, always showing up to support their extracurricular activities and sharing in their milestones. Known for his playful spirit, John was truly a kid at heart.

He had a natural curiosity and enjoyed working with his hands, often taking things apart and putting them back together. One of his proudest accomplishments was building and riding his own motorized bike. John also loved to travel and experience new places.

He will be remembered as a laid-back, happy-go-lucky man who never met a stranger and was always ready for a good conversation. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed relaxing with a cold beer and embracing life to the fullest.

John’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his wife, Joni Emery of Golden Valley, Arizona; his daughters, Vercale of Peascada, Florida, and Cassandra and Breanna of Golden Valley, Arizona; his son, Christopher of Golden Valley, Arizona; and his beloved granddaughters, Patience, Everest, and Tristan. Pam Emery and her four children, Summer, Samantha, Sabrina, and Lukas, all of Denver, Colorado; Wendy Emery of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and William (Debbie) Whelan of North Platte, Nebraska, along with their eight children, Richard, Emery, Willie, Alex, Ericka, Cheyenne, Malakai, and Angeleena. His special friend, Heather Patton-Stringham and her three daughters, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Beulah; his father, Vern; his brother, Tim; and two nieces.
