Jim Triplett, Sr.

J im T riplett, S r., of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at home on March 12, 2022, at the age of 88.

Jim was born to Marion and Isabell Triplett at Holly, CO, on November 4, 1933. He grew up and went to school in Holly and Lamar, CO, then worked for the U.P. Railroad and was a ranch hand.

In October 1954 Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until '56. Following his honorable discharge, Jim moved to Nebraska where he worked on ranches near Ogallala. He later moved to North Platte and worked for Myron Walker and at the packing plant then hired on with the U.P. Railroad. While working on the railroad Jim also had a second job, working for Lepp & Osterlo and later for Gambles.

In 1958 Jim met Sharon Baruth and they wed a year later. They lived in Keystone and later divorced. On October 17, 1989, Jim married Rachel Wilma Verbeck Goodwin in North Platte and they eventually made their home in Hershey. During retirement, Rachel and Jim would head South for the winters and Jim, being one to stay busy, worked as a security guard and janitor.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1504 and attended the Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed square dancing, fishing and camping and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel; son, Michael Triplett; parents, Marion and Isabell; brother, Cliff Triplett; and sister, Iva Nuss.

Survivors include his children, Penny (Johnny) Berg, Shawn Triplett (significant other, Tina) and Marion 'Jimmy' Triplett, Jr., all of North Platte, Roger (Joyce) Goodwin, of Sutherland, Patricia (James) Goedeker, of Hershey, Tammy (Joe, II) Sauls, of Grand Island, Warren (Madeline) Goodwin, of Florida, and Jeffrey (Donna) Goodwin, of Nevada; daughter-in-law, Mary Triplett, of Illinois; his sister, Mary (Elmer) Witt and brother, John Triplett, of North Platte; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many other family members.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
