J ames D. 'Jim' Pascoe, age 77, of North Platte, passed away at home under hospice care on December 20, 2022.
Jim, the son of Homer and Frances Pascoe, was born in Wall, SD, on February 13, 1945. He grew up in Wall where he attended school and worked in a gold mine for a short time. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard and did six months of active duty.
Jim married Sheryle Johnson and they made their home and raised their sons in North Platte. After the couple divorced, Jim married Dana von Holt in Cheyenne, WY, and they continued living in North Platte.
Jim was employed by Nebraska Machinery Company as a diesel mechanic then hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad. He worked as a machinist and was coffee pot foreman. Jim eventually retired from the railroad.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, and was a member of a gun club and Eagles Aeries #2839. Jim enjoyed collecting coins, guns and early generation Mustangs and Galaxies. And on occasions, he liked to prospect for gold.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Frances; his wife, Dana; brothers, Ed and Bob Pascoe; and sisters, Marie Nasziger and Hazel Bubby Pascoe.
Survivors include Jim's sons, Donavon (Mary) Pascoe and Kevon Pascoe of North Platte; stepchildren, Michael Johnson of Cheyenne, WY, Michele (Sam) Buda of Hawaii and Amy (Julian) Pitts of Plumerville, AR; grandchildren, Devon, Bryan, Morgan, Colton, Marissa, Hennisi and Helijah; step grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Christopher, Brett, Madison, McKenna and Brianda; great-grandchildren, Kyler, Dax and Dru; his sisters, Marjorie (George) Tennyson, Audrey Martin, Arlis Babcock, Arlene (Fred) White and Darlene Horine, all of South Dakota, and Kathy Weihe of Gordon, NE; as well as many other family.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Father Joe officiating. Inurnment will be in Wall, SD, in the Spring. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Paws-itive Partners in North Platte.
