J erry T oman of North Platte, passed away at Great Plains Health on July 16, 2023, at the age of 86.
Jerry was born to George and Audra Toman on July 14, 1937, in Omaha, where he grew up. After graduating from South High School in 1955, Jerry attended college in Colorado. He went to school in Ft. Collins then Colorado School of Banking in Boulder before moving to North Platte to work for Martin Reality.
Jerry was married to Sylvia and to this union Bernie and Cindy were born. On November 20, 1969, he married Phyllis Robb. Phyllis had two children, Kenneth and Marlene, then she and Jerry welcomed their daughter, Michelle. The family lived in North Platte before moving to Hershey, Wallace and McCook where Jerry worked for the Niedan family in banking and insurance.
He later moved to Fort Morgan, CO, and opened Ft. Morgan State Bank then worked for Century Homes. By 1987 Jerry returned to Nebraska and worked for the Bank of Indianola, which was bought by Adams Bank and Trust. He eventually retired from Adams Bank and Trust.
Over the years, Jerry served on the board of the Nebraska Bankers Association and was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Rotary, and World Sporting Clay Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting sports. Jerry and Phyllis also liked traveling in their motor home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Bernie Toman and Cindy Al-Bwardi; and his parents, George and Audra Toman.
Survivors include his children, Michelle (Randy) Roethemeyer of North Platte, Marlene Crosier of Mitchell, and Kenneth (Suihua) Binegar of North Platte; Bernie's widow, Kim; his grandchildren, Iman, Faisal, Dema, Dalal, Christopher, Angela, Mandy and Valerie; and great-grandchildren, Razan and Decker.
In keeping with Jerry's wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
