Jerry Moore

Jerry Lynn Moore, age 65, of North Platte, NE, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Jerry was born June 27, 1951, to Herman and Pearl Moore at Kearney, NE, where he grew up and attended school. In 1970 Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Army then re-enlisted in 1972 for another two years and was stationed in Germany for a year.

Following his discharge, Jerry returned to Kearney then moved to North Platte in 1979. He spent his remaining years driving a truck, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Jerry drove for Western Engineering for 18 years then for Schaben Sanitation, retiring from there at the age of 62.

In 1969 Jerry married Carol Sheen in Kearney and to this union two daughters, Jeannette and Wanda, were born. Jerry and Carol later divorced. In 2004 he married Brenda Rasmussen and they later divorced but remained very close friends.

Aside from his work, Jerry's other great love in life was his guitar and singing country songs, especially at gatherings. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and with friends. Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeannette (Shawn) Allen, of Holdrege, NE, and Wanda Lawver, of Palmyra, NE; sister, Bonnie Anderson, of North Platte; his special friend, Brenda Rasmussen, and stepdaughter, Nicole Rasmussen (Gary), of North Platte; four grandchildren, Colby (Cori) Trofholz, Kendra (Dustin) Foster, Elizabeth Lawver and Matthew Gusman; two step-grandsons, Jayden Rasmussen and Joseph Cooper; great-granddaughter, Kayla Trofholz; as well as his many friends, including Steve Manthei, and daughter, Denise; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Pearl; brothers, Kenny and Hermie Moore; and sisters, Ramona Moore and Gloria Alley.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Chaplain Gary Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
