Jerry Little, 77, of North Platte, passed away at home surrounded by those he loved, on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
Jerry was born October 20, 1941, to Ben and Mable Little in North Platte where he grew up. He attended North Platte Senior High then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in January 1959.
On October 24, 1960, Jerry married Georgia French in North Platte. Since he was still in the service, they lived in California for two years until Jerry was honorably discharged in 1962. The couple returned to North Platte where they raised their family and enjoyed taking camping trips.
Jerry went to work for Cash-WA then Coca Cola and eventually hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad as a Carman and worked until retiring in 2005 after 29 years on the railroad. He then spent a short time driving for Armadillo. Jerry enjoyed his free time, following his grandkids in their many sporting activities and helping the kids with their various car problems. He was also a good carpenter who liked making things for his family, especially cradles and toy boxes for his grandkids.
Jerry leaves behind his wife, Georgia, of North Platte; children, Jerri (Matt) Phillips, of Pleasanton, Denise (Jim) Flanders, Melody (Jim) Miller, John (Natalee) Little and Nadine Florea, all of North Platte; 37 grandkids; 16 great-grandkids; siblings, Bryon Little, of Lincoln, Thelma Gilbert and Sylvia Barnett, both of North Platte; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Little; parents, Ben and Mable Little; brothers, John 'Bud', Dennis, David 'Joe' and Roy Little; and sister, Linda Hawkins.
Cremation was chosen. Graveside Service with military honors will be 3 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Chaplain Gary Smith officiating then Jerry will be placed in the columbarium. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Wounded Warriors.
