Jerry Johnson

J erry J ohnson was born December 23, 1938, in Gandy, NE, to Arthur and Nedra Johnson and he passed away at his home in Logan County on February 20, 2023, at the age of 84.

Jerry attended school in Gandy through the 8th grade then went to the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis. Following high school graduation he attended Chadron State College for two years. He married Donna Schlem and they raised two daughters.

Jerry worked on a ranch for 45 years, 20 years as a ranch hand and 20 more as foreman, and obtained his real estate and brokers licenses. He was active in Logan County where he served as County Commissioner for 12 years, was on the Extension Board for 2 terms and served a few terms on the Fair Board.

Jerry enjoyed his horses and team roping, calf roping and team penning. He looked forward to riding and driving and in later years played a fair amount of golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Nedra; brother, James Johnson; sisters, Arta Jean Kramer, Joan Gaites and Janice Johnson; and granddaughter, Meagan Schroeder.

Survivors include Jerry's wife, Donna; daughters, Dodie Johnson and Laurie (Doug) Streeter of North Platte; granddaughter, Kaylen Streeter and grandson, Logan Streeter; great-grandkids, Rylee, Kyen and Tysean Schroeder; sister-in-law, Jackie Johnson of South Dakota; as well as numerous nieces, nephews other family.

Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Odean Colonial Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in McCain Cemetery.
