Jerry “JA” Alan Welsh, age 68, of Hershey, Nebraska, passed away on September 8, 2026, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.

JA was born on September 24, 1957, to Jerry Everett and Sharon Ann Danielson Welsh in Sutherland, Nebraska. He grew up in Sutherland and graduated from Sutherland High School. He then attended Kearney State College and graduated from there.

On February 12, 1983, JA married Tammie Lynn Henning in Kearney, Nebraska. Together they were blessed with two sons. They shared more than 43 years of marriage and family life together.

JA worked for Pizza Hut in upper management for 30 years. He later attended seminary and received a synodically approved degree. JA served Trinity Lutheran Church in Cordova, Nebraska; Trinity Lutheran Church in Paxton, Nebraska; St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Ogallala, Nebraska; and Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Nebraska. He also taught confirmation for over 20 years.

JA is survived by his wife, Tammie Lynn Henning Welsh, of Hershey, Nebraska; sons, Dr. Justin Scott Welsh and wife, Tanja, of Gilbert, Arizona, and Trevor Alan Welsh of Hershey, Nebraska; grandchildren, Cameron Welsh and Isabella Welsh; brother, Bob Welsh and wife, Roxanne, of Ogallala, Nebraska; and sister, Melinda Files of Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Everett Welsh and Sharon Ann Danielson Welsh; his brother, Darren LeRoy Welsh, who passed away November 7, 2023; and brother-in-law, John Files.

JA will be remembered for his strong faith, dedication to serving others, and the many lives he touched through his work in ministry and teaching. His family and friends will cherish the memories they made with him and carry his memory in their hearts.

A memorial service will be held on September 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Grace Lutheran Church.
