J ed W eir of North Platte unexpectedly died at Great Plains Health on August 20, 2022, at the age of 46.
Jed was born in North Platte on July 21, 1976, to Gerald 'Jerry' and Carol Weir. He grew up in Hershey where he graduated from Hershey High School in 1995.
In 1995 Jed married Lori Sexson and they moved to Kearney where he worked for Coleman Powermate. The couple had two sons, Jacob and Justin, and later divorced.
In 2007 he returned to Hershey where he worked as the Meat Manager at Gary's Super Food then for Greenbrier Railroad Service. Jed eventually hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and was working as a Carman at the time of his death.
On May 31, 2016, Jed married Trisha Osman in Bennett, CO, and they made their home together in North Platte. Jed's family grew with Trisha's kids, Nick, Kristian and Adrianna.
Jed liked gardening and was a family man who loved his kids, and kids in general. He enjoyed baseball and coached Little League and Legion Baseball. Jed especially loved celebrating the 4th of July with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Carol Weir.
Jed is survived by his wife, Trisha; children, Jacob (Tanisha) Weir of North Platte, Justin (Rebecca) Weir of Kearney and Nick Thalley, Kristian Santillano and Adrianna Santillano of North Platte; sister, Brenda Anderson of North Platte; brothers, Terry (Lisa) Weir of Wahoo, Myron (Stephanie) Weir of Hershey and Greg Weir of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, Jesiah and Emersyn Weir and two more to be born; mother-in-law, Donna Osman of Fulton, KY; father-in-law, Roger Osman of Bennett, CO; as well as other family.
Cremation was chosen and family will have a private service. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the North Platte Animal Shelter or you can make a blood donation in Jed's name at the American Red Cross. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
