J eanette F rench of Galveston County, Texas, formerly of Hershey, Nebraska, passed away in Texas on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the age of 84.
Jeanette was born to Ray and Dorothy Graham of Hershey, Nebraska. She graduated from Hershey High School as Salutatorian and later married Burrell French of Tryon, Nebraska.
Jeanette completed her degree in Mathematics and Physics, graduating Summa Cum Laude at University of Houston. She worked at NASA Johnson Space Center for over 30 years and worked on Space Station, Space Shuttle, and Air Force programs. Her career included Space Shuttle navigation flight design and First Team Leader for Space Shuttle Flight Navigation in Ground Control; she was one of the first women to work on Navigation Control Console during Shuttle missions.
Jeanette successfully pursued genealogy research as a lifelong hobby and established lineage for the Graham and French family trees. She also practiced art as a hobby and business throughout her life, making and selling pottery, textiles, spinning yarn, weaving and the equipment she used to make them.
She is survived by her her five children, Cinda French, Linda French, Renee French (Perry), Lenee French Lovejoy and Timothy French; grandchildren, Matthew French, Katrina Perry and Reece Perry; her brother, Eugene Graham; cousin, Jerry Parker; and other family.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Dorothy Graham; and her infant son, Thomas.
Cremation was chosen. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, North Platte, Nebraska.
