Jean Mills

J ean (Finnell) Mills, age 94, formerly of North Platte, passed away at Maple Springs Skilled Nursing Facility in Wasilla, Alaska, on September 11, 2021.

Jean was born June 4, 1927, and graduated from North Platte High School in 1945.

On April 30, 1945, Jean was united in marriage to Dale Mills. They made their home in North Platte where Jean was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, P.R. Halligan Post #163 American Legion Auxiliary, and the Social Order of Beauceant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and their daughter, Sherry Schonlau; her parents; brother, Mervin Finnell; and great-grandson, Keaton Dodd.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Mills of Willow, Alaska; grandchildren, Heidi Dodd of Kearney, MO, Heather (Mike) Houghtaling, of Omaha, Brent Schonlau of Elkhorn, Brandi Horn (Cory Case) of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Ryan (Abbygail) Horn of Colorado; five great-grandchildren; and other family.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Social Order of Beauceant or First Baptist Church. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of local arrangements.
