Jan Roberts

Janice Roberts, 71, of North Platte, died Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Great Plains Health.

Janice was born in Imperial to William and Thelma Gibb on June 23, 1948. The Gibb family moved to Oxford in 1959 and that is where Jan grew up and attended school. She later met Loren Roberts and the two were married on June 7, 1969, in Stockville. They lived in Oxford for a while before moving to Holdrege where Jan stayed home with the kids. After they were grown, she worked various jobs in Holdrege.

Jan was a pet lover and especially loved her dog, Sissy. She was also a collector of owls and angels. Jan was a good mom and loved being a grandma.

She leaves behind her mother, Thelma Gibb, of Holdrege, and children, Loren ‘Punk’ (Brenda) Roberts, of North Platte and Laura (Scott) Scholl, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Zachery (Sarah Jane) Scholl, Taylor Scholl, Sarah Ann Scholl, Colton (Jessica) Wohlers and Lindsey (Tony) Mercer; great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Cyrus and Rhyland; sister, Joyce Gibb, of Holdrege; brothers, Rick (Roxie) Gibb, of Atlanta, NE and Raymond (Kathy) Gibb, of Oxford; sister-in-law, Joyce (Marion) Walkington, of Holdrege; her good friend, Sam Parker, of North Platte; and her dog, Sissy; as well as many other family members.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; father, William Gibb; brother and his wife, James and Donna Gibb; sister-in-law, Myrna Twombly; great-grandson, Korbyn Mercer; and in-laws, Arlis and Glenard Conant.

Cremation was chosen. Graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2020, in Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com.
