Jack Whitcomb

J ack W hitcomb, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at Great Plains Health on March 9, 2022. He was 89 years old.

Jack, the son of Elmond and Eleanor Whitcomb, was born in Vermont on March 25, 1932. After high school he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. Jack earned the rank of Airman Second Class and was honorably discharged in 1954.

In civilian life Jack worked with electronics, was an auto mechanic, and worked with the Barnum & Bailey Circus. He had also married and had four children. Then on December 13, 1992, Jack married Nina Hablitzel at Maria Lutheran Church in Hershey.

Jack was a member of First Christian Church and was a preacher there in the early '80's. He loved dogs and had many good canine friendships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmond and Eleanor; and son, Jack Whitcomb.

Survivors include his wife, Nina, of North Platte; his children, Michael, Jim and Debra; as well as other family and his friends.

Graveside service with honors will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with Jean Anderson officiating. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Arrangements are with Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore.
