Ivy The Flower Shop Cat

d. October 6, 2024

"Sometimes a very special cat enters our lives...and their presence changes our hearts forever."  That's just what happened to a hungry, homeless cat who eventually became known as Ivy, the flower shop cat.

We don't know about her early years, but we do know that she was a shop cat who was forced outside and abandoned when her owner was evicted from the commercial quansets on East 6th Street in North Platte.  After she became homeless in 2017, PAWS-itive Partners Humane Society was contacted about a cat with a broken leg, and after almost a week, she gave into hunger, went into the trap and was saved.  What was thought to be a broken leg ended up being damage from a gun shot wound.  Ivy was left with a permanent limp but she never let it get her down.

She was seen, treated, and fostered at Tender Hearts Vet Clinic until a permanent home could be found.  Ivy was adopted by The Flower Market as their shop kitty and she quickly became "Queen Bee".  Ivy loved the shop, her crew and the patrons of the store.  She was always friendly and interacted with everyone in the store, and she could often be seen enjoying the day, lounging on her cat stand.

Ivy had a great life at the flower shop these past 7 years and was dearly loved by all.  She is a PAWS-itive Partners success story - People working together to do for animals what they cannot do for themselves and how a single cat is worth saving.  In return that cat can save us and have a positive impact on our lives.

On October 6, 2024, our beloved Ivy made her way over the rainbow bridge after recently being diagnosed with cancer.  She was a strong yet sweet girl who enjoyed the company of those around her at her home, The Flower Market, and she took a piece of our hearts to heaven with her.

Ivy leaves behind her flower shop family, Sarah and Tom, Paula, Madison, Kelly, Kylee and Makynzi; the veterinary staff at Tender Hearts and the PAWS-itive Partners who saved her; as well as all the patrons who visited with her.

Thank you to all who cared about Ivy.  Memorials in her memory can be shared with PAWS-itive Partners of North Platte or left at the flower shop to help other cats or dogs in need.  We can all call ourselves blessed for having known Ivy.
