O n Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the age of 87, Irma Baker left her earthly home in North Platte, Nebraska, to her forever home.
Irma was born December 2, 1934, to Adolph and Irmgard Bremer of Boelus, Nebraska. Growing up Irma enjoyed spending time with her five siblings.
On June 17, 1954, Irma married Gary Baker of Grand Island, at the Methodist Church in Boelus. Later that year, Irma and Gary moved to North Platte where they started their family and attended Bethel Church.
She was a long time resident of North Platte and those who knew Irma would find her fishing, bowling, golfing, playing cards, crocheting or cheering on the Huskers. She had a true talent for crocheting and made several beautiful afghans. She loved going to garage sales, or any shopping for that matter, and she truly found peace in her flower beds.
In later life, Irma enjoyed doing picture puzzles and playing cards with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Irma will be deeply missed by her five children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Irma was proceeded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents, Adolph and Irmgard Bremer; sisters, Betty Guy and Gussie Peterson; and brother, Ray Guy.
Survivors include her sisters, Pearl Lemburg (Billy) of Cairo, NE, and Doris Jean Cogins of Atlanta, GA; her daughters, Sharon Neal (Steve) of North Platte and Deborah Baker (Theresa) of Council Bluffs, IA; her sons Terry Baker of San Francisco, CA, Roger Baker (Maria) of Mission, KS, and Bryan Baker (Bonnie) of Windsor, Ontario, Canada; her grandchildren, Jesse Neal (Seri), Matt Neal (Mandy), Nancy Tally (Tim), Amy Wolfskill (Ron), Cassandra Baker, Samantha Baker, Jordan Baker, Ellie Pearson (Shayne), Katie Baker, Grace Baker and Kyle Baker; great-grandchildren, Addison, Jakin, Isaiah, Kamri, Aysha, Sias, Forest, Hunter, Abagail, Robin, Maximus, Brooklyn, McKinley and Luke; as well as other family.
Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Bethel Church with Job Vigil officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation is prior to services at the church. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Senior Center. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
