H arvey B rott was born November 24, 1937, at Madrid, NE. He passed away at the age of 87 on February 18, 2025, in North Platte.
Harvey was one of 14 children born to Anna and Henry Brott, Sr. He was born and raised on the family farm, 10 miles north of Madrid. He attended country school, Madrid High School, then farmed with his family until 1964 when he purchased the Phillips 66 Station in Roscoe. He owned and operated the gas station until 1977 then bought interest in Commercial State Bank and H & B Agency. Harvey retired from the bank in 2000 and later from the insurance agency.
On August 5, 1962, Harvey was united in marriage to Jean Jasnoch at St. John's Lutheran Church, south of Roscoe. The couple started out on the family farm near Madrid then moved to Roscoe in 1964. In 2013 they relocated to North Platte where they became members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Harvey was active in his communities and was a life time blood donor, donating 15 gallons of blood over the years. He served on the hospital board in Grant, was a volunteer fire fighter at Elsie, played in a golf league at Grant, and was a member of the Roscoe Gun Club. Harvey was recognized for his years of service when he was selected as Grand Marshal at the Elsie Centennial Celebration.
He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife, Jean; their children, Douglas (DeAnn) Brott of North Platte, Shelia (Brian) Mahler of North Platte, Barbara (Kent) Larsen of Minden, and Jill (Rod) Lamp of North Platte; grandchildren, Shelby and Alex Larsen, Lauren and Landon Brott and Noel Terry; his sister-in-law, Ethel Brott; and many extended family members.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna; and all his siblings, Harry, Henry Jr. (Shirley), Walter (Norma), Reinholt, John (Marion), William (Donna), Leo (Twila and Marguerite), Marvin (Lillace), Rosie (Cyril) Powell, Esther, Lilian, Caroline, and Katherine (Ronald) Stuehm.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. (CT), Monday. February 24, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte. Burial is 1:30 p.m. (MT) at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, south of Roscoe.
Visitation is Sunday with family greeting from 3-5 p.m. (CT) at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are to the family for later designation. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
