Harry Mays, of North Platte, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Great Plains Health at the age of 59.
Harry was born August 13, 1959, to Robert, Sr. and Dixie Mays at Albuquerque, New Mexico. A few years later the family moved to Southern California where Harry grew up, graduated from Monte Vista High School and was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church.
Harry went to work restoring vintage W.W.II airplanes with Aero Trader in Chino, California, then worked for a company that transported train crews. He eventually hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in Colton, California and worked as a conductor. After receiving a medical leave in 2016 Harry moved to Nebraska to be closer to his family.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Dixie Mays, of North Platte; brothers and their spouses, Robert, Jr. and Brenda Mays, of Wallace and Wesley and JoDina Mays, of North Platte; sister-in-law, Debbie Gaddis, of California; niece, Amanda Mays, and nephew, Kellen Mays; as well as other family.
Harry was preceded in death by his brother, John Mays.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no services at this time. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
