Harold Eugene Loving passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 19, 2025, just three days after his 70th birthday.
Born July 16, 1955, in Gary, Indiana, to George, Sr. and Ruth Loving, Harold lived a life full of love, laughter, and a good bit of mischief. Harold graduated from North Platte High School in 1974 and lived in North Platte for decades making memories and telling tall tales. A loyal friend, Harold was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back—though he would probably crack a joke while doing it. He worked as a plumber and was honored to serve many years volunteering for the North Platte, Nebraska and Boardman, Oregon fire departments. Known for his heart of gold, quick wit, and ability to fix things. He loved fishing, playing pool, old cars, woodworking, ice cream from Cody Park, and an ice-cold pop. Harold was a storyteller, an adoring dad, and the kind of papa who gave hugs like bear traps.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara; his children: Michael Loving (Rachell) of Gulfport, Mississippi; Stephanie Case (Jake), of Irrigon, Oregon; Andrew Grandel, of North Platte, Nebraska; and Laurie Ryun of Boardman, Oregon; his siblings: Mike Loving (Juley) of Deltona, Florida; Nicci Green (Mike) of Kansas City, Missouri; Robin Loving (Mary Beth), Hazel Perez (Daniel), and sister-in-law Victoria Loving all of North Platte, Nebraska. He was a proud papa to 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grand daughters.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Ruth Loving; brothers, Johnnie and George, Jr.; and sisters, Dianna Emerson, Annie Loving, and Bonnie Murphy. A celebration of Harold's life will be held at 1:00 Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Odean Colonial Chapel with a gathering to follow at the Eagles, where stories will be shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to do something kind for someone else—preferably with a smirk, a smart remark, and maybe a twenty tucked in your pocket for a grandkid. His grandson would like it on public record that Papa did not get his ribs so he does not still owe him $20.
