Grant Richard Thomas, age 75, of North Platte, NE, passed on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Linden Court in North Platte.
Grant was born in Laramie, WY, on February 17, 1940. He was the oldest of seven children born to Grant and Leona Thomas. He grew up in Fox Park, WY and later joined the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge, Grant returned to Wyoming and was united in marriage to Nancy Harvey in 1958. They lived in Ryan Park, WY before moving to Fox Park where they raised their family. In 1965 they moved to Walden, CO where they both worked at the saw mill.
Grant and Nancy became Christians in 1970 and went to Preaching School in Denver, CO. They graduated from there in 1974 then began preaching in Colorado, Montana and Oregon. Grant later moved to Seattle, WA where he drove a limo until he retired in 2010.
In 2014 Grant moved to North Platte to be closer to his daughter, Neva, and was a member of the Church of Christ on Walker Road. He loved his family, little children and small animals, and enjoyed feeding the birds. Grant also liked to help others and was known to tell jokes and laugh.
He is survived by his children, Neva and husband, Ned Cooper, of North Platte and Steve (Lauri) Thomas, of Seattle; seven grandchildren, Chad, Nathan and wife, Autumn, Shelby, Brady, Jake, Natalie and Dylan; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Darrell Thomas, of Hamilton, MT; sisters, LaVona and husband, David Bromley, Deanna Johnson and Mary and husband, Delbert Johnson, all of Laramie; honorary family members, Beau and wife, Melody Lintner, and their daughter, Bella; and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Leona; two daughters, Edy and Cindy Thomas; and two brothers, Kenneth and Leonard Thomas.
