Grace Smith, age 80, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at her home.
Grace was born and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida to Frank and Leila Moore. After marrying her husband, Myron Smith, Grace traveled a lot for his military career. She worked for many years with the Bureau of Public Roads in Alaska before settling back in Florida in 1972. Grace was an Administrative Assistant for Palm Beach Auto Parts for many years prior to retirement.
Grace was very family oriented. She was everybody’s mom and was known as “The Neighborhood Mom”, always driving her kids and others to baseball practice. She was known on more than one occasion to bring neighborhood kids into her home and care for them.
In later years, Grace loved watching television, especially, The Price is Right, and talking to her family, especially her sister, on the telephone. Grace was the baby of the family and last surviving of 11 children.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Myron Smith; sons, Mike Smith (Patricia), of Nebraska, Mark Smith (Susan), of Texas, and Frank Smith (Barbara), of Port St. Lucie; 6 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
A Gathering of Friends and Family to celebrate Grace’s life will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 SE Floresta Drive Port St. Lucie, Florida 34983.
Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery southwest of Maxwell, Nebraska.
