Glenna (Cole) Parker
1930-2025
Glenna, also known as “Tiny,” was born in Curtis, NE, to Charles and Violet (Tracewell) Cole. She was the third of four children and grew up in the country with her siblings: Howard, Dorothy, and Leonard. She graduated as a Curtis Aggie.
She married Gaylerd Metcalf, and together they welcomed four children; Susan, Carol, Lori, and Alan.
She was the proud grandmother of three—Aaron, Emily, and Jordan—and great-grandmother of one, Rachel.
After living in Idaho for a few years, her and Gaylerd eventually divorced. She moved back to Nebraska where she met and married Derold Parker. They lived in Madrid, Grant, and Wallace and eventually settled in North Platte. Her and Derold enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, and taking short trips to the casino.
Mom was an avid gardener of both flowers (her favorite) and vegetables. When she wasn’t outside, she loved working on puzzles and crosswords.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Cooties and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of the VFW shuffleboard team. She also enjoyed socializing with her girlfriends, laughing, and having a great time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her husband, Derold.
She is survived by her four children, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, and her favorite son-in-law, Doug.
They say you can’t live forever, but Mom gave it one hell of a try.
In honor of her wishes, cremation was chosen and no service will be held.
